Between wave and matter

Nout Lequen, artist of Dutch descent, born in Paris in 1954, has her workshop close to Grenoble, France. She studied at the fine art school and in various workshops in Angers and Grenoble. Her painting technique includes all type of media, as well as ink, pastels and oil. Parelell to her work as a painter, she sculpts and gives introductory courses in contemporary art at the academy of creation and artistic development (ACDA).

Nout Lequen offers a varied, figurative or abstracted pictorial work to us, juggling subtly with various forms of expression where the fabrics mix with the drawings and the pigments with ink and oil. What is very important for her is to open for us a space with the fluidity of life, to introduce us to this moment of delicate passage, between what is almost born and what has been.

In her workshop in Meylan (Isère, Dauphiné, France) near the Chartreuse Mountains, she was touched by the silence and the lights of the Alps. She remained for a long time with “black”. Not the black of blackness or ordeal, but the black which is for me the core from which emanates the color. What is offered here to us is an unforeseen but possible meeting with our interiority and the one of the artist.
