A PROPHETIC WORK FOR THE THIRD MILLENNIUM

     Apocalypse painted by Louis Caillaud of Angers is the fruit of a long consideration of the text of holy Jean. He is interested in it from 1953 and becomes soaked with it during thirty years, before leaving free court with the artistic inspiration. And, as often when maturation was long, execution is lightning: between 1983 and 1984 it(he) paints forty five watercolours of sketch and, one year later, forty paintings are finished!

He in spring an atypical work in the contemporary artistic landscape. Caillaud of Angers not only discovered (rediscovered) the Hope which in the heart of the Apocalypse but he is also upstart in to express in the work, against all the interpretations and the terrifying or driven to despair shows which marked out history of art, particularly in our century. Nevertheless Caillaud of Angers, been born in 1911, crossed all the abominations of this end of millennium: world wars, atomic bombardments, genocides in any kind... Meeting the text of the Apocalypse, he would have been able to see there as many others, announcement prophetic of this universal drama. The art would have been able to be done as at so many its contemporaries, the mirror of this human tragedy. Now it is not anything of it: it is all other vision of the world that is daylight in its Apocalypse!

Caillaud of Angers has carrying not sweetened the dramatic contents of visions described by holy jeans, masked the painful tests which tear the people, darkened the spiritual fight which sub-aims them. But keeping indestructible one faith in the Man, in the capacity to hope against any hope (Rm 4,18), to love despite all, it understood(included) that all this was assumed, exceeded and sanctified by the presence of the Christ, sacrificed and resuscitated, victorious Lamb of any evil and any suffering.
