      "Painting is my preferred medium.
It provides me with the opportunity to explore and find new answers to themes which are close to my heart such as: desire, love, childhood, the different faces of each of us, Man and his relation with nature. Thus, each piece is an invitation to travel to new worlds. It ís only when I can leave behind all the beliefs, the thoughts and the prejudices that I bring back powerful works. However, when I set sail on my ship " Paint-exploration, " I am taken aback in spite of myself by the theme I chose. Then it comes to me: It is only when I have put my brushes away that I start seeing and understanding what I have just painted. This is what drives me. This is what gives me the desire to go towards what I call " paint-exploration ."

"Philippe Blondel's paintings challenge the viewer to give them more than a cursory glance; they are a place of transformation and evoke a certain interior alchemy. His works capture a heretofore hidden reality as well as powerful moments, which leave their searing traces on the canvas. It is the world of subtle energy, of ephemeral desire, the world of the material thought. In our normative society, he captures a fleeting moment beyond the pale of appearances, an archaic power, one which is strange and generous, one which speaks directly to the being. He also captures a world, a world which is full, strong, compact, one which continues to vibrate on the canvas, bringing forth in each viewer the memory of that of which he is as of yet unaware, but a memory which nevertheless evokes strong premonitions.
Philippe Blondel opens a door for us. By doing so, he provides us with room to breathe and a space in which to reflect. Without quite understanding how, if one opens oneself to his works, if one accepts a new sensation, then the viewer will leave the exhibition with something, perhaps small, but nevertheless something that will gradually penetrate into the intimate depths of the individual."

Born in Roubaix in 1962 and after an art baccalaureat (A level), he studied law and passed a competitive entry examination for Civil Service. After having worked in Paris for 7 years, Philippe Blondel began painting in 1991, after a period of personal introspection.
From that moment on, he devoted all his time painting and resigned for good from the Civil Service in 1992.
   S
elf-taught, he only recently. felt the necessity to attend classes of academic drawing and technique.
