THE MARTINERIE STUDIO

Born of Friendship and Dreams!...
At the end of The Fine Arts School,
In a small village in the Touraine

In 1956…
During the grape-harvesting season; But also:
From a great Longing
To bring together the best in Themselves
For one united Great Work.
Creating abstraction as far as Possible
Within our limits of Individual Consciousness.
From the Dialogue of the Receptive Being which we contain
With the Universe,
We allow to pass through us
All the colours and forms
Which become images, in our Duality
And in the Midst of this Duality!...
We gather and Re-gather what for us is
Possible,
Beauty and Transcendence, giving them:
“Form thought up by the imagination,
Physical Form
By skill or by know-how,”
Technical or Material Creation;
By the Strand and the Skills,
Whatever they may be,
Mind and Matter being but One
To the different degrees
of Crystallization.
We Work Like the Alchemists
To extract the Subtle from the Coarse!
And Us Above All and
In our art
Reception, Perception, Conception and Creation
As one and the same Action.
Accomplishing Thought to Form.
We love the Strands and the Weaving,
They remain our means for This moment,
But all other disciplines can be Used
For the Creation of the “Thought Image”
From the Symbolic Image
Which Everyone can read.
We speak the Language-Symbol
Of the Planets, of the Fire
Of the Birds and of the Wind.
Because they are Universal,
A Language neither of Time
Nor outside of Time
but
for
All Time! –

The Search for Light and Joy
In these Tapestries
is not
An Unconsciousness of the Suffering
in this World –
It is a State of Being, extremely Precise and
Extremely Determined,
For the Search for Harmony in Light.
What is called ART
here
is not the Aim
but simply
The Means, the Vocabulary which transmits,
The support of Interior evolution
Searching the purity of the Lines,
from Outside
to Inside;
Each one of which is Unique
Because it Is, From thought to Creation,
A state of Being in movement
Which can never
be the same
For us,
ART is a Love song
Which gives birth to Beauty
The Sacred,
Which each person can love or not
Love,
It is a question of Harmony
It is a language from Soul to Soul
It is difficult
To put too many words around it
It is the One who Receives
It is the One who Gives
Where is the Difference
When the Universe is
ONE.
It is from this Interior Pathway
That the Martinerie Studio Operates
